Safer Movie and Series Details Loading

LynoTV 1.06 improves stability on movie and series detail pages by preventing late image and UI updates after a screen has been closed while loading user-added legal M3U and Xtream Codes sources.

Fixes
  • Series Details: Fixed a crash that could happen when the series detail screen was closed before poster or background images finished loading.
  • Movie Details: Added the same lifecycle protection for movie posters, blurred backgrounds, cast loading and download progress refreshes.
  • Image Loading: Prevented Glide requests from starting when the related activity is already finishing or destroyed.
  • Async Callbacks: Guarded delayed network and UI callbacks so they stop updating closed screens.
Stability & Compatibility
  • Cross-device Stability: The fix applies to Android TV, Firestick, mobile and tablet detail pages.
  • Remote Navigation: Existing D-pad and focus behavior is preserved; the update only adds safer lifecycle handling.
  • Release Package: The public APK download has been updated to the 1.06 release build.

Faster Discover, Cleaner Categories and Better First Launch

LynoTV 1.05 improves the movie and series Discover experience with faster local loading, richer first-launch category rows and cleaner recommendations for user-added legal M3U and Xtream Codes sources.

Improvements
  • Movie and Series Discover: Added more useful local category rows on first launch so Discover no longer feels empty before the user has watched content.
  • Cleaner Recommendations: Personalised rows now appear only when real playback history exists, avoiding confusing recommendations on a fresh install.
  • Recently Added: Improved row deduplication so a user category named Recently added does not appear next to the system Recently added row.
  • Faster Initial Loading: Reduced repeated catalog reads while building Discover rows to help the page display content sooner on TV boxes and Firestick devices.
  • Android TV Experience: Preserved D-pad friendly row order and focus behavior while making the Discover page richer and easier to browse.

  • First Launch: Fixed cases where Discover could show only a small number of rows even when multiple movie or series categories were available.
  • Duplicate Rows: Strengthened row title and row identifier checks to prevent duplicate category headers without hiding useful content.
  • Large Libraries: Kept row generation bounded to avoid unnecessary work when playlists contain many movies or series.
  • Cross-device Layout: Changes apply to Android TV, Firestick, mobile and tablet without changing the app package or permissions.

LynoTV 1.04 improves external playback options, Android TV remote navigation, search result presentation and multilingual VOD playback for user-added legal M3U and Xtream Codes sources.

Improvements
  • External VLC Playback: Long press Play/Resume on movies, or long press a series episode, to open playback in VLC when VLC is installed on the device.
  • Movies and Series Audio Tracks: Added audio track selection to the VOD player so multilingual movies and series can switch available audio languages directly in LynoTV.
  • Search Result Presentation: Aligned TV, movie and series result card proportions for more consistent display when opening search directly or using filters.
  • Scrolling Titles: Long TV channel, movie and series titles can scroll inside their cards when needed, improving readability on TV screens.
  • TV, Mobile and Tablet: External VLC launch is available across supported form factors when the external player is installed.

LynoTV 1.03 focuses on clearer settings, automatic live stream format detection, Android TV polish and stronger playback stability for user-added legal M3U and Xtream Codes sources.

  • Settings Organisation: Reworked the Settings screen into clearer groups so TV, mobile and tablet users can find app, playback, source, tool and account actions faster.
  • Automatic Live Format: Removed the need for a manual stream format choice. Live playback now tries the best candidate format automatically when possible.
  • Player Performance: Improved live playback startup, fallback behaviour and in-session format reuse across the main player, EPG preview and multiscreen playback.
  • Android TV Experience: Refined D-pad focus, main menu spacing and the Android TV launcher banner for a cleaner TV and Firestick experience.

Bug Fixes & Stability Patch

This update resolves critical stability issues, including crashes during Picture-in-Picture mode activation on specific devices, and improves resource management for a smoother video player experience.

Bug Fixes
  • Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Crash Fix: Resolved a critical issue that caused the application to crash when activating Picture-in-Picture mode on certain devices:
    • Incompatible Devices – Prevented fatal crashes on low-end TV boxes/tablets that declare PiP support but fail to activate it. The app now displays an informative message instead of crashing.
    • Invalid Video Parameters – Corrected crashes caused by missing video aspect ratio parameters when transitioning to PiP mode. The app now falls back to a default 16:9 aspect ratio.
  • Video Player Resource Management: Fixed an internal warning issue when closing the media player. Optimized the resource release sequence of the hardware decoding pipeline for cleaner closures.
