M3U or Xtream Codes: which method should you use?

Two ways to connect a source

LynoTV supports M3U playlists and Xtream Codes connections. Both methods access a source you already have; neither changes the legality or availability of its content.

M3U playlists

An M3U is usually provided as a URL or file containing a list of media entries. It is simple and widely compatible, but categories, artwork and programme information depend on the data supplied by the source.

Xtream Codes connections

This method uses a server address, username and password. When the service is compatible, it can provide more structured access to channels, films, series and EPG data.

Which should you choose?

Use the format officially supplied by your provider or organisation. Never convert credentials on an unknown website or disclose a password to a third party. If both are available, Xtream Codes may simplify organisation while M3U remains convenient for a straightforward playlist.

You stay in control

Without synchronization, source details remain on the device. With your consent, LynoTV securely stores the connection settings needed for restoration, profiles and playback state. Catalogs, artwork, TV guides and videos are never uploaded.
